Africa is the continent of vast open spaces and incredibly rich wildlife. For me, who grew up in europe, africa has always had a magic. Over several decades many different parks and reserves in eastern and southern africa have been visited, some like Massai Mara in Kenya or more recently Limpopo-Lipadi in Botswana and Pilanesberg in South Africa multiple times. All in all several years have been spent in the bush and this page shows highlights encountered during these stays. Even though also in Africa nature is under pressure from a growing population, still today a large number of parks protect vast areas of little disturbed natural habitat. Tourism has provided not only the necessary income but also habituated animals to cars. Photographic possibilities are better today than ever before.
