The vast asiatic continent comprises a great variety of climates and landscapes, each with unique wildlife. It is however the indian subcontinent which is home to the greatest mammal biodiversity, on par with Africa and with numerous iconic species like indian rhino, elephant and tiger. Unlike many regions in Africa, India and Nepal's terai region are densely populated and do not allow huge tracts of wilderness. Nevertheless a peaceful and wildlife respecting hindu population together with dedicated environmentalists have succeeded in creating and maintaining a number of excellent wildlife parks. Likewise Thailand's buddhist population has a great respect of animals and wildlife and a small page on Thai wildlife is added here.
